This has been exactly what I've been looking for
Anyone know what this software costs? It appears their pricing model is a state secret kept by dedicated sales channels. This is in contrast to the free, scalable and open source licensing options provided by Unity and Unreal, both of which now have thriving VR ecosystems of indie and pro developers. Both Unity and Unreal have evolving technical foundations tested in the wild via massive live multi-platform projects (i.e. Fortnite, mobile games), and both have expanding asset stores, massive educational resources and legions of dedicated fans. Both engines also have new solutions to entice professional offices, entertainment studios and CAD-centric engineering workflows. WorldViz's approach by contrast seems to be an 80's-era pricing strategy, reminding me of the now defunct Silicon Graphics Inc. Reliance on Universities and Government customers, while ignoring the garage gamers made them an extinct species. Its a shame because Vizard's Python-based structure and ability to tie in to external python libraries seems really compelling for education and all sorts of practical simulation. Although many well-heeled institutions may have used it, indie and pro game developers are going to push the avant garde in this industry, just like the games industry in the 90's. Its really a shame to see this when Worldviz could (and should) be a household name, with a 10-year head start over the current generation VR content creation systems. But what compelling reason is there to get into this software and dedicate hours to learn it when you can't even find out what it costs (without hearing a Sales pitch)? Does that sound promising for a diverse and sustainable platform to invest in? Please Worldviz wake up to the new world of VR and give indies and small studios a reason to experiment and support your software.
Wow! Good stuff!
